Biografy

Domenico Scaminante was born in Catania (Italy), he is a guitar teacher at the SMIM “Don Milani” of Paternò (CT) and at the “Accademia Etnea della Chitarra” .
He got a Diploma with excelent votes at the Musical Institute “V. Bellini” in Catania. After he studied with Linda Casolaro, Alvaro Company, Carlo Carfagna, Francesco Taranto, Eliot Fisk, Maurizio Colonna, Roland Dyens and Alirio Diaz. He took part, like regular, at the analysis and composition courses of Alexander Mullebach and Nuccio D’Angelo. At the present time he goes on with composition studies with Salvatore Coniglio. Adriana Finocchiaro, Salvatore Torrisi and Dario Miozzi have contributed to him musical formation.
He won many national and international contests, and he also won the First Prize at the International Contest “Magma 2000 d’inerpretazione, prassi esecutiva e analisi” with the Suite 996 of J.S. Bach.
He performs, both as a soloist and in chamber music formation, for several musical and cultural associations (A.GI.MUS., Dvorak, Amici della Musica, F. Liszt, Atelier Internazionale della Musica, Festival Internazionale Ghislanzoni, Festival Internazionale di Chitarra Citta di Fiuggi, Incontri Chitarristici del Mediterraneo, Liuteria in concerto - Roma ecc.), earning critics and audience’s approbation.
One composition of him, “Tarantella/omaggio a Castelnuovo-Tedesco” has been published in the specialited magazine “Chitarre Classica” of Roberto Fabbri on December 2001.
In 2004 he composed the music for the short
Alamandra of the director D. Brusà.
He’s also theology scholar and he has delivered lectures about Spirituality in Bach’s Music and the music from David to Bach at the Diocesan Musical Institute of Acireale.
He has also given lectures about the problems in executive practis in Bach’s music and his time at the Meridies Association.
Since 2006 he works with the Poetess Angela Bonanno; he has set the collection of poems “Nuatrì” to music.
Recently he organized with the dancer-choreographer Lucia Serrano perfomances on Leo Brower, Manuel De Falla and his own music.
He has recorder, with the T.M. Management, a CD of Ponce, Llobet, Brower’s music.
He is involved in musical organizations and he is deviser and Artistic Director of the National Contest TUTTARTE and of the Accademia Etnea della Chitarra.
